S6941 - Hare Cairn
NO242643, LR44. HISTORY Pillar completed 1st July 1952, cost not on record. Computed as secondary triangulation station NO46/9 within the Forfar secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1956. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1986. SITE VISIT In the 1¼ years since RJW (Fasgadh) visited, the spider raider with Allen Keys has visited leaving the centre open. In this short time, sufficient debris has been dropped down the centre of the pillar covering upper centre mark, meaning that the bolt cannot be viewed through the sighting holes, all four of which are open. The pillar is otherwise in good condition. The flush bracket faces ESE. Views include: Largo Law, East Lomond, West Lomond, Craig Rossie, Mount Blair, Cat Law. Photographed: 26th Sept' 2006, GRP. ═════════════════════════ Interactive index: www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1arx2Qmo5mVeVUJA2lzVG_uzbYPW59ffh&ll=56.746382,-3.240551&z=12" rel="noreferrer nofollow Google My Maps Map: www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/41110925871/in/album-72157692190778971/ Trig Pillars on OS Landranger 44 ═════════════════════════ Neighbouring Triangulation Pillars www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098103590/in/album-72157631793900484/ S6965 - Badendun Hill : 4.07 miles to the northwest. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8100895891/in/album-72157631801120468/ S7056 - Mount Blair : 4.67 miles to the west. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098103688/in/album-72157631793900484/ S6963 - Cat Law : 4.83 miles to the east. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/10785802065/in/album-72157631801120468/ S7048 - Balduff Hill : 5.53 miles to the south. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8100896279/in/album-72157631801120468/ S7050 - West Schurroch : 6.90 miles to the southeast. ═════════════════════════
