Quartz Crystals
A rock at the side of the path leading to the summit of Mount Keen reveals the sparkling quartz crystals, some of which have been discoloured a reddy-brown. Anyway, stop dallying, we've got more climbing to do!! Mount Keen is my 11th Munro and this is my second time of climbing it. It is the most easterly of all the Munros and stands at 939 Meters (3080 feet), forming an almost perfect cone. A 7 mile cycle up Glen Tanar gets us to the foot of the 2 mile ascent up the mountain.

Slopes of Mount Keen
I took this shot so we get an idea of how steep the hill is that we're climbing (which is quite difficult to portray). The path goes straight up this hillside, but we're nearly there. Above Glen Tanar
One final view of Glen Tanar to which we will be descending and getting back on the bikes to cycle back down as it disappears around the hill to the right. In the distance we can see Pressendye, a hill I climbed shortly after the Scottish travel restrictions were lifted in July, and right on the horizon far right is Bennachie (pronounced ben-ar-hee) which is pretty close to where I live! Mount Keen is my 11th Munro and this is my second time of climbing it. It is the most easterly of all the Munros and stands at 939 Meters (3080 feet), forming an almost perfect cone.
