Gatesgarth Farm
Herdwick ewes, grazing at Gatesgarth Farm beneath the towering Fleetwith Pike.

I can smell ewe!
On one side of the path, at the top of Buttermere, were a few Herdwick rams in a field. On the other side, a field with a flock of ewes. As we approached, the rams were all pressed against the gate, eager to head over to meet up with their lady friends! A shot of three of them is in the comment below.

Triangulation 1 - looking down
Fleetwith Pike not quite dipping its peak into the southern end of Buttermere Lake on a glorious morning to be out on the fells, though it was definitely a little chilly in the shadows.

Triangulation 2 - onwards and upwards
The shape which created the shadow 'starring' in the previous upload flic.kr/p/2qsiAyD" rel="noreferrer nofollow flic.kr/p/2qsiAyD is revealed! The sun clearing the shoulder of Fleetwith Pike.

Triangulation 3 - The view from the apex
The view from (just below) the summit cairn of Fleetwith Pike is felt by many to be one of the Lake District's best. So who am I to argue? Buttermere lake is flanked by the "Buttermere Pikes" - High Crag, Grey Crags with Red Pike just peeping over its side with the 'bump' of Dodd below. Beyond Buttermere are Crummock Water (bisected by Rannerdale Knotts) and Loweswater beyond the steep flank of Mellbreak.

The other photos have been geo-tagged as on or around the summit. For less busy mountains, it can be a little hit and miss.

Repurposed
Once a workmen's hut for Dubs Quarry at the top of the Honister Pass, the Dubs Hut was renovated in 2016-17 by the Mountain Bothies Association (MBA). www.mountainbothies.org.uk/" rel="noreferrer nofollow www.mountainbothies.org.uk/ The purpose of the MBA is "To maintain simple shelters in remote country for the use of all who love wild and lonely places." And this is most definitely one such place. The deep cleft beyond the hut is the path down to Gatesgarth and the southern end of Buttermere Lake.
