Walking along the Ffestiniog Hills above Blaenau Ffestiniog, in Gwynedd, North Wales. Although they form the eastern ridge of the horseshoe shaped Moelwynion / Moelwyn Mountains this part is more commonly known as the Ffestiniog Hills. The complete ridge has in total 18 separate peaks whose heights range from 600-900 meters. They extend from Moelwyn Bach which lies north-east of Porthmadog to Manod Mawr north of the village Llan Ffestiniog. The name of these mountains derives from the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (Great White Hill) and Moelwyn Bach (Little White Hill).
