Maol Chean-Dearg in the mist, Torridon, Scotland
Two weeks hiking in Scotland. By the time we moved north, the weather had turned to more typical West Highlands cloud and rain. Hike 11 took us to Maol Chean-Dearg in the mist. We were supposed to get wonderful views of the Torridon giants, Liathach and Beinn Eighe. Instead we could see just a few metres in front of our steps.

The difference a couple of kilometers makes. A fabulous burst of sunshine on Maol Chean-dearg's rocky mountainside while Sgorr Ruadh got one of the day's heavy showers.

An Ruadh-stac
Not as high as its nearest neighbour (Maol Chean-dearg) but certainly somewhat more intimidating - those glistening quartzite slabs making any ascent look quite improbable. This is one for another day (a dry and sunny one preferably).
