S7419 - Wangie Hill
NJ136536, LR28. HISTORY Pillar completed 25th March 1953 costing £25.0s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NJ06/T29 within the Nairn secondary block and levelled to second class precision during 1956. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1987. SITE VISIT Approached from the south. Room to park in the forest entrance at NJ139521. Followed the mapped track network until 250m south of the pillar then up through firebreals to the trig column. The woodland top named named Hill of the Wangie. The pillar is in good condition. The spider centre open. The flush bracket faces northwest, compass reading 316°. Vented through left (NE) sight hole. Any view is long since lost to the woods.
