S7521 - Carn Na Loine
NJ070360, LR27. HISTORY Pillar completed 21st July 1953 costing £32.7s.3d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NJ06/12 within the Nairn secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1956. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1981. SITE VISIT Approached from SSW. Parked on the west verge opposite the entrance to Auchnahannet at NJ058333. Up via the mapped track to NJ066350, then took a ramdom yomp through the heather to the summit. The summit is of rough grassand and heather. The pillar is in good condition. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces WSW, compass measurement 253°. Vented through the left (NW) sight hole. The full 360° panoramic view includes Ben Rinnes, the Cairngorms and many prominent summits north of the Moray Firth.
