OS Map of A' Choinneach

Barns of Bynack
A glorious day on Bynack More in the Cairngorms, looking back at the HUGE (can't really tell from this pic) granite outcrop on its mountainside.

Loch Avon
One of those moments that set the pulse racing. All the info I'd read previously about the Cairngorms didn't prepare me for how remote, wild and magnificent this place felt. This is heading towards The Saddle between A' Choinneach (behind) and Cairn Gorm (over to the right) and the first proper view I got of Loch Avon stretching away towards Ben Macdui ahead.

Loch Avon, Cairngorms, Scotland
A week's hiking in the highlands. We stayed in a cottage near Avoch on the Black Isle. Walk 1 took us from near the reindeer sanctuary at Glenmore Lodge, near Aviemore, to Bynack Mor. A short 30 km warm up walk!

This is OS mapping. In some areas, OpenStreetMap shows more footpaths
Spatial NI has online OSNI mapping. Click "Basemap Gallery" (4 squares icon at the top).
Now would be a good time for a cup of tea.

The other photos have been geo-tagged as on or around the summit. For less busy mountains, it can be a little hit and miss.

- Data: Database of British and Irish Hills v18.2
- Maps: We use OS mapping for England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Sadly, Channel Islands, Northern (OSNI) and Southern Ireland (OSI) mapping isn't available online, so we use Openstreetmap.
