Ian on the last hard move of Deep Throat P1
This point was scary in leading because the line below was a traverse (from the left in the photo). I managed to put two pieces of gear (one of which was inventively stacked nuts as no gear of such a size remained in my harness by this time at the enf of 30-metre pitch) after some excavation of snow. If they failed, the falling leader woud hit the side wall (to the left in the photo) after 10 metre fall. I may have spent good 20 minutes this section alone in leading. I spent 4 hours in leading (cleanly) this P1 because it was so heavyly rhymed and everything was buried, yet not much ice was there and turf was unfrozen (this is a rock route and there was not much turf anyway).
