NG283495, LR23. HISTORY Pillar completed 15th April 1957 costing £60.0s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NG24/39 within the Skye secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1957. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in April 1978. SITE VISIT Approached from the northwest. Parked in the layby on the west side of the B850 near the high point at NG277501. The line of sight is a pathless route up the hill around crags, over the tussock and heather combination to the top. Open grazing hill. The pillar is in fair condition. There is a horizontal crack mid height, otherwise it remains in good order. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. The flush bracket faces WSW, compass measurement 255°. Vented through the back (SE) sight hole. The full 360° panoramic view includes Dunvegan Head, North Uist, Harris, Beinn Na Boineide, Wiay, Canna, MacLeod's Tables.
