Dunlichity Watch House
Only a few miles from Boleskine and in a similar style to the building being renovated there. It is without doubt a watch house. Your comments are welcomed. Loch A' Chlachain
Reworking of a previous image of this magical little place. The Lake of Lunnin, also known as Loch A’ Chlachain, holds an intriguing history. Legend has it that during his initial visit to the north, William the Lion (William I, King of Scotland , 1165 - 1214ad) bestowed an island within this lake upon John the Hermit. The island was situated in the eastern part of the loch, which is believed to correspond to the area towards Dunlichity which was historically referred to as ‘Lunlichity’. The Gaelic name for this loch translates to the 'Loch of the Church’ which suggests that there has been some historical religious site associated place. While the island may no longer be visible today, the echoes of its hermitage and the mystical connection to the church still linger across the tranquil waters of Loch A’ Chlachain.
