Duffdefiance
On the Glen Nochty side of the Ladder Hills are the remains of a house called 'Duffdefiance'. Story has it that a man called Lucky Thain was chased out from Glenlivet on the other side of the Ladder Hills for Illicit distilling. He built this dwelling and got the lum reeking (smoke from the chimney) before the local laird called Duff noticed, thus claiming his right to stay. His defiance is still shown on maps today. www.bing.com/maps?osid=a720c4fa-efeb-475f-8e09-4be665f2a3c0&cp=57.237416~-3.169087&lvl=14&style=s&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027" rel="noreferrer nofollow www.bing.com/maps?osid=a720c4fa-efeb-475f-8e09-4be665f2a3...

- Data: Database of British and Irish Hills v18.2
- Maps: We use OS mapping for England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Sadly, Channel Islands, Northern (OSNI) and Southern Ireland (OSI) mapping isn't available online, so we use Openstreetmap.
