Looking northwards from the trig pillar on An Caisteal towards Sgor a' Bhatain and Sgor Chaonasaid. To the right is a sheer rock face with a gully that can be scrambled up; a simpler rocky path heads up from the left. OS BM S7066.

A Misty Wall Below The Corrie
After heading out on to the far ridge we were heading down to the corrie lake and then down into the main valley. In hindsight a return back along the ridge would have been just as easy and would be recommended if the steep grass slopes, to the corrie and then to the valley, were wet.

Name That Lochan
For a "small" country we don't half have a lot of remote and trackless countryside. Looking south from Ben Loyal over a collection of small lakes with Altnaharra and Lairg somewhere in the far distance.

... we were back down and fording the river on the walk back to the car. Ben Loyal is a magnificent mountain and hopefully I'll get another chance to visit.
