Mam na Cloich Airde, Knoydart
Mam na Cloich Airde, Knoydart

The Mam na Cloich Airde, the pass that separates Knoydart from Glen Dessary. One of the most beautiful and spectacular walks I've ever done in the Scottish Highlands. Sunday June 5, 1988. A digital copy of a 35mm Kodachrome 64 film transparency. Nikon FM, 35 - 70mm, f3.3 - f4.5 Nikkor F-series zoom lens.

Loch Nevis, Knoydart
Loch Nevis, Knoydart

The view back down the Mam na Cloich Airde path, looking towards Sourlies at the head of Loch Nevis, with Beinn Bhuidhe (855m) crowning the skyline beyond. Sunday June 5, 1988. A digital copy of a 35mm Kodachrome 64 film transparency. Nikon FM, 35 - 70mm, f3.3 - f4.5 Nikkor F-series zoom lens. My journal entry for the day records: 'Best day's weather of the trip, warm sunshine, gentle NW breeze. Longest and hardest day's walking, about 15 miles plus 1000m of ascent. Rose at 06:00 to clear sky, tent still in shadow. Hurried breakfast and packed, away by 07:30 after waiting for sun to appear over hill for photos. Mam na Cloich Airde absolutely stunning, very wild and rocky. Climbed most of way up in shorts, stripped to waist.'
