10756 - Coire Ceirsle Hill
NN247857, LR34 & LR41. HISTORY Pillar completed 16th May 1960, cost unknown. Computed by Distomat survey as secondary triangulation station NH40/DM/9 within the Loch Ness secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1960. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in in June 1980. SITE VISIT Approached from WNW. Parked by the south side of unclassified road on wide section opposite the south end of the bridge at NN224863. Followed the mapped track to NN232863 then took a straight line uphill (SE) to a fence and traversed eastwards to summit. The Vanessa is in good condition. The spider centre is plugged with tar. The flush bracket faces northwest, compass measurement 311°. All four sight holes are open, the innards are blocked with rotting wood. Full 360° panorama to the surrounding hills and lochs, and commanded over by Ben Nevis.
