S7295 - Carn Glac An Eich
NH694268, LR26 & LR35. HISTORY Pillar completed 7th September 1953 costing £17.16s.3d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NH54/T10 within the Inverness secondary block during 1955, and levelled to second class precision in 1956. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1976. SITE VISIT Approached from the east. Parked by the roadside along at the 463m high spot at NH718265. Made a westerly beeline via the cairn then followed a line of rusting fence poles to top. Open hill, dry spongy ground which could be wet at times. The pillar is in good condition. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces ESE, compass reading 112°. Vented through right (NE) sight hole. 360° open outlook includes the Kessock Bridge and beyond.
