Walk from Bridge of Muick to Cairn Leuchan, Nov 2024
We had lost the sun it was amazing to hear stags bellowing but we could not see them. Somewhere down there was stag making sure everyone knew this was his territory and he was ready to fight for it

Walking the hills can be deceiving, you think you are close to the summit but you are actually miles away. We had lost the sun and it was certainly colder higher up. From here we could see Bennachie on your right in the distance.

Mount Keen (3,081ft) from Cairn Leuchan, Nov 2024
We had reached the summit of Cairn Leuchan, there was no cairn or trig point. It was great to see Mount Keen which has a number of routes to the summit. Next time I am in Aberdeenshire this could be on my list, it is a long walk to the base and then quite a climb to the top. That is one for longer daylight.

It was quite something to take in the views from Cairn Leuchan in Royal Deeside. There is no Cairn or Trig Point but it is recognisable as a summit.

Another view from Cairn Leuchan before we began our descent. We followed the same route on return as we had run out of time to try a different route. Thanks for your comments.

The other photos have been geo-tagged as on or around the summit. For less busy mountains, it can be a little hit and miss.
