Red Cloudberries
On the marshy lower slopes of Carn an Fhidhleir we came across quite a number of these bright cloudberries, growing among the grass and moss.

Remote Glen Geldie
After some steep climbing we reach the upper slopes of Carn an Fhidhleir and look back down Glen Geldie from which we've come. This image gives a sense of how remote this place really is. On the right are the slopes of An Sgarsoch, which we'll be climbing next, while in the distance, to give a scale, the ruins of Geldie Lodge can just be made out. The mountains to the left are the southern Cairngorms. Carn an Fhidhleir (pronounced Carn an Ealer) means the 'Rocky Hill of the Fiddler' and stands at 994 meters (3261 feet), while An Sgarsoch, meaning 'The Place of Sharp Rocks' is slightly higher at 1006 meters (3300 feet). These Munro's rank amongst the remotest in Scotland, lying as they do in a vast roadless region with long approaches from any direction. Our epic day sees us cycing 7.5 miles up Glen Geldie, hiking the 11.5 mile circuit of the 2 mountains, then the return cycle takes the total mileage up to 26.5 miles.

Selfie on Carn an Fhidhleir
Carn an Fhidleir is now my 15th Munro and here I am at its summit Cairn, with the obligatory summit selfie. In the distance is our 2nd Munro of the day, An Sgarsoch, which, obviously, will be my 16th. Lumpy Landscape
The rocks on the summit of Carn an Fhidhleir have been overgrown with grass and moss, giving it a definite lumpy look. Across the Glen, which we will have to drop into to make the next climb, is An Sgarsoch, our next target. Looking carefull, its summit cairn can be faintly made out. Descent and Climb
From the edge of Carn an Fhidhleir, we now have to drop into this Glen in order to climb An Sgarsoch opposite. This looks like it could be hard as the lower slopes are boggy and there's no path.
