10758 - Meall Luidh Mor
NN416797, LR42. HISTORY Pillar completed 16th May 1960, cost not on record. Computed by Distomat survey as secondary triangulation station NH40/DM/11 within the Loch Ness secondary block during 1960. Flush bracket 10758 was levelled to first class precision, tertiary standards in July 1960. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1977. SITE VISIT Good parking in a designated service layby off the A86. Uninhibited approach via forest track, tussocky firebreak and deep heather. The Vanessa is in good condition. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces northeast, compass measurement 46°. Three sight holes are open, the front port (FB face) is still plugged. The innards are blocked with the fallen cardboard tube - this internal damage is a result of the spider cap theft. Note, this forest was (in 2009) up for sale and is being sold in 'lots'. Photographed: 5th August 2009, GRP. ═════════════════════════ Interactive index: www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1arx2Qmo5mVeVUJA2lzVG_uzbYPW59ffh&ll=56.88161940,-4.60014671&z=11" rel="noreferrer nofollow Google My Maps Map: www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/41169474642/in/album-72157692190778971/ Trig Pillars on OS Landranger 42 www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/53057312025/in/album-72177720309888959/ Meall Luidh Mor, The Movie ═════════════════════════ Neighbouring Triangulation Pillars www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8117263295/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10755 - Mullach Iubhair : 5.53 miles to the east. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8117274450/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10753 - Creag Dhubh : 6.09 miles to the west. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/7905745658/in/album-72157631348956488/ S1566 - Ben Alder : 6.94 miles to the southeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8117263905/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10752 - Carn Dubh : 9.96 miles to the northeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8219292318/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10756 - Coire Ceirsle Hill : 11.14 miles to the west. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8117264013/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10751 - Creag Ruadh : 11.40 miles to the northeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8219291908/in/album-72157631838876970/ 10762 - Leitir Finlay : 11.80 miles to the northwest. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8114080339/in/album-72157631831281682/ S9378 - Sgairneach Moor : 12.04 miles to the east. ═════════════════════════ Nearest Non Pillar Flush Bracket (Levelling Line) www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/29880502102/in/album-72157662157184532/ G1060 - Moy : 1.87 miles to the north. ═════════════════════════
