The Weather Threatens on the Cheviot Hills
Northumberland National Park. That's a dark Hedgehope Hill in the distance. It's about the same height as Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales. Ritto Hill is the small round hill in front, slightly to the right.

Parked on minor road near cattle grid then footpath towards Wether Cairn, onto Cushat Law and Shil Moor with return down track passing Ewartly Shank. No turning spot at the end of public road so leave cars near cattle grid. S7991 - Shill Moor
NT943153, LR80. HISTORY Pillar completed 16th May 1954 costing £55.2s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NT72/T91 within the Jedburgh secondary block during 1957, and levelled to second class precision in 1958. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in September 1978. SITE VISIT Overall approach from ENE. Bagged in conjunction with Wether Cairn. Ample parking on the roadend verge at NT977162. Followed the track past Alnhammoor then onto open grazing land from there. The trig column is between a cairn and a wind shelter. The pillar is in good condition. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces southwest, compass measurement 233°. Vented though the left (NW) sight hole. The view includes Cheviot, Hedgehope Hill and Wether Cairn.
