Lost Farmstead
A ruined farmstead (bottom left) overgrown by summer growth and the growth surrounding the stream running off this foothill of the Cheviots near Hethpool in the College Valley.

S7473 - Newton Tors
NT908269, LR74 & LR75. HISTORY Pillar completed 28th April 1953 costing £22.19s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NT72/24 within the Jedburgh secondary block during 1957, levelled to second class precision in 1958. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in September 1978. SITE VISIT Approached from the northwest. Free public car park at Hethpool, NT894280. Followed the St Cuthbert's Way to NT900282, then up SE by the boundary fence to the high point and east up to the summit. The pillar is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. The flush bracket faces north, compass measurement 349°. Vented through the right (west) sight hole. The full 360° panoramic view includes Hedgehope Hill, The Cheviot, Hownam Law and the Eildon Hills.
