OS Map of Top of the Battery (Carn Damhaireach)
Height: 784m / 2572ft • Prominence: 80m / 262ft • Summit : ground 2m SE of cairn • Trip reports (hill-bagging)

Post This
A lone post sits at the side of the track I'm climbing up on the bike (which can be seen beyond the post to the right). Lost in the heather there is no sign of any other posts. But the summit is close to where the track ends, so we're getting close now.

Leaving Tracks
A look back down down the track I'm following through the Glen to reach Carn Liath. I came back the same way, and my tracker app clocked me doing over 25mph (40kph) on this stretch. With a big drop on the right it was .. exhilarating!!

View From The Top
I'd like to say this was the view from The Battery, but when I checked the map when I got home, it turns out that's the hill to the right. Oh well, I've still got a great view of the Glen I've come up on the left and will be descending through very shortly. For those of you who follow my walks, Morrone, a Corbett I climbed a couple of weeks ago, can be seen in the distance.

Another Summit
It's not The Battery but it's a summit all the same, of an unnamed mountain, but it does offer a great view back over Carn Liath where I've just been and the snow capped Cairngorm Mountains in the Scottish Highlands beyond.

Now You See Me
An just to prove I made it here I am at the summit of the unnamed hill, with Carn Liath in the background and the snow capped Cairngorm Mountains beyond. Flick between this one and the next image in my stream to see my vanishing trick ..

Another Summit
I've come around this 'horseshoe' and am heading round to The Battery another summit on this plateau. The hill to the right of picture is Carn Liath that I've just been on, and I've left the bike at the end of the track leading up below it. I'm now off-piste making my way through the heather and rocks.

The other photos have been geo-tagged as on or around the summit. For less busy mountains, it can be a little hit and miss.

On The Up and Up
Turning a corner as I'm cycling along this track I am faced with this uphill battle, it's been tough so far but it's going to get tougher before I reach Carn Liath.

Rising Up
As we cycle further up the Glen the steep mountainsides loom all around as I make my way up to Carn Liath in the Scottish Highlands.
