The ruins of an old hunting lodge lies abandoned and derelict at the head of Glen Lochsie, and is where the real ascent up Glas Tulaichean starts. The old stone walls still withstand the test of time but nature is slowly taking over as she always does in the end. Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.

Ruins and Mountains
The ruins of an old lodge lie abandoned and derelict at the head of Glen Lochsie. A few years ago the rood was still intact but has now fallen into the ruins slowly decaying back to the landscape. The lower slopes of Glas Tulaichean loom large in the background so it's time to start pushing the bike and climbing. Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.

Autumn Larch
Leaving the abandoned loadge behind, I start the ascent up towards Glas Tulaichean, but have to take a breather every so often as the climb is relentless. Looking back the way I have come these Larch trees in their Autumn colours nestle in the steep sided Glen Lochsie. Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.

Descending Weather

Lost Summit
As I climb higher, the clouds descend and completely shroud the summit of Glas Tulaichean. Normally I would give this up and wait for a better day, but as we're soon moving away this is my last chance to gain the 10% of Munro's bagged. Gentle Autumn Falls
It took me over 2 hours to climb to the summit of Glas Tulaichean from the derelict lodge, but as I'd taken the bike up with me, the descent took a mere 15 minutes!! So here I am, back below the clouds and can enjoy the rest of my sandwiches in the relative wramth next to the gentle falls, tumbling Larch trees in the their Autumn colours. Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. The mountain stands at 1051 meters (3448 feet) and is the last one I will do as I have now moved away from Scotland and back to my roots in South Yorkshire as the pull of the Grandchildren was just too strong.

Porcelain Fungus
Nestled among the base of a decaying tree stump on the lower slopes of Glas Tulaichean, this porcelain fungus almost glows in its brightness among the grass and heather of the Scottish Highlands. Glas Tulaichean is my 5th Munro of the season and the 28th in total, bringing me to a Munro completion rate of near enough 10%. Mushroom Burst
Nestled near the ruins of an old and abandoned lodge at the foot of Glas Tulaichean, this mushroom has 'burst' into a perfect star effect. Its pair still shows the perfect dome that it once had. Highland Falls
Before I make my return back down Glen Lochsie these falls on Glen Lochsie Burn caught my attention and look wonderful as the water tumbles over the rocks.
