Grassy Cross Section
Crossing the Allt a' Chaorainn to get to the lower slopes of Carn an Fhidhleir we take a rest to refill the water bottles. The burn has undercut the banking leaving the long roots of the grass above exposed. A true cross section of what goes on beneath our feet.

Common Frog
On the lower slopes of Carn an Fhidhleir, the ground is quite boggy and we came across loads of these Common Frogs (Rana temporaria), passing the day in small ponds. This one posed nicely for me while I lined up the shot.

At The Summit of An Sgarsoch
This is Andy, my trusted climbing partner. If you're wondering why I haven't a shot of us both together, it's because at this point I realised somewhere along the way I had lost my tripod. There was no way I was going back to try and find it though!! Carn an Fhidhleir (pronounced Carn an Ealer) means the 'Rocky Hill of the Fiddler' and stands at 994 meters (3261 feet), while An Sgarsoch, meaning 'The Place of Sharp Rocks' is slightly higher at 1006 meters (3300 feet). These Munro's rank amongst the remotest in Scotland, lying as they do in a vast roadless region with long approaches from any direction. Our epic day sees us cycing 7.5 miles up Glen Geldie, hiking the 11.5 mile circuit of the 2 mountains, then the return cycle takes the total mileage up to 26.5 miles.

An Sgarsoch Selfie
Here I am at the summit of An Sgarsoch. This is now my 16th Munro and all that's left is to have a bit to eat, and then descend back to the bikes. Summit of An Sgarsoch
We've made it at last, a double bagger today and this completes the climbing. In the distance we can see our first summit we climbed today of Carn an Fhidhleir. A rest, refuel, then just a descent left. Descent to Glen Geldie
On the edge of An Sgarsoch, we have to descend back into the very remote Glen Geldie to find the bikes we left near the ruins of Geldie Lodge, navigating around the left edge of Scarsoch Bheag, the hill just below us.

The other photos have been geo-tagged as on or around the summit. For less busy mountains, it can be a little hit and miss.

Alternate route to Geldie Lodge
Dropped down into Coire an Tobair to follow the Allt Coire an t-Seilich back to Geldie Lodge. Though it was a bit difficult at times, it's a lovely wee burn with fish in it.
