Foggy

Another from a memorable and atmospheric afternoon on Bredon Hill in Worcestershire. Cold thick fog filled the Avon and Severn Valleys, but the tops of the neighbouring hills rose above the fog and emerged into bright and quite warm sunshine. At the boundary the sun was trying to break through the fog, and create conditions like you see here.

Inversion

Another from a strong inversion last winter. This was the view from about halfway up from Bredon Hill, Worcestershire. The Severn and Avon valleys were fillled with thick freezing fog, and the air above was clear and much warmer. This led to a very defined top to the fog as you can see here.

Trees in the sky

A temperature inversion as seen from Bredon Hill, Worcesterishire. The Severn and Avon valleys were fillled with thick freezing fog, and the air above was clear and much warmer. This led to extraordinary sights such as this, the tops of trees emerging from the top of the fog layer.
