The Jetty
I'm back after an 8 day road trip around the Lake |District in Cumbria. The weather was challenging at times but I made the most of it I think. Here is a pre sunrise long exposure of the Parkamoor Jetty at Coniston Water. I think I captured my best side here! Coniston Water is a lake in the Lake District in North West England. It is the third largest by volume, after Windermere and Ullswater, and the fifth-largest by area. The lake has a length of 8.7 kilometres, a maximum width of 730 metres, and a maximum depth of 56.1 m.

Coniston
The iconic wooden jetty reaching out into Coniston Water in the Lake District. This is a long exposure image taken with a 10-stop filter providing a 5-minute exposure time, smoothing out the lake and movements of the sky. I captured this at 5:30am which was a nice way of avoiding the crowds and getting the entire spot to myself. Weather and lighting conditions were fairly uninspiring too, so this kind of image was very much the way to go. Considering I can see the hills of the Lake District out my window, its not a location I have much experience capturing. So whenever I visit, I very much feel like a kid let loose in a sweetshop! Sunrise in the Lakes
5:10am. Sometimes it is worth getting up at this time. I had the lake and the jetty to myself. Had to wait patiently for the sun to rise and catch the tops of the peaks whilst the mist rolled in. N o wind also meant the lake was as clear and smooth as glass. A beautiful morning.
