S5671 - White Howe

NY523041, LR90. HISTORY Pillar built in August 1949 costing £15.16s.10d. Computed as secondary triangulation station SD47/38 within the Barrow-in-Furness block, and levelled to second class precision during 1950. his pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1983. SITE VISIT Room to park one car where public road ends, NW of north corner at NY530017, Dryhowe Bridge. Followed mapped track to NY528023, then right of rocks, over 528m top and continue via trodden path. Secondary station pillar of standard Hotine build in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces southeast, compass measurement 142°. Vented through NE sight hole. 360° panorama from top.
