Helvellyn Walk
On Saturday, my friends Sandra, Jeff, and I visited the Lake District to take on the Helvellyn via Striding Edge walk, with stops at both Nethermost Pike and Dollywaggon Pike. What a day it was! The weather was excellent, offering superb visibility throughout our journey. We began in Patterdale and climbed the southern slopes of Birkhouse Moor to reach the junction of paths at Hole-in-the-Wall. From there, we set off on the thrilling trek across Striding Edge, eventually reaching the summit of Helvellyn. After reaching Helvellyn, we continued south to Nethermost Pike, followed by High Crag, and finally Dollywaggon Pike, completing the high-altitude portion of the walk. We then descended to Grisedale Tarn and undertook a long north-east traverse through the Grisedale valley. By the time we returned to Patterdale, we were thoroughly exhausted but deeply satisfied, particularly with the stunning views made possible by the clear weather. As always, I have documented the entire journey on my website, including maps, directions, and information on distances and ascents. I hope you find it helpful. If you feel inspired, do share this post or the website details with friends who might enjoy this remarkable walk. During the walk, I captured 62 photos, which I have included on the website along with descriptions. These should provide a clear idea of what to expect if you decide to take on this walk and are lucky enough to have a day as clear as ours. www.paulbeal.com/helvellyn-via-striding-edge" rel="noreferrer nofollow www.paulbeal.com/helvellyn-via-striding-edge
