OS Map of Bowscale Fell
Height: 702m / 2303ft • Prominence: 87m / 285ft • Summit : stone shelter • Trip reports (hill-bagging)

High Pike from the path to Bowscale Tarn. Carrock Fell opposite.
Shows the topography of the Northern Fells, smooth rounded slopes with the occasional craggy bit. A lot kinder on old hips and knees than the central fells and has the advantage of solitude still.

Bowscale Tarn.
A popular destination for Victorian visitors they would arrive on the back of a pony to be regaled with tales of two immortal fish that had lived in the tarn for... errr ...ever. According to Mr. W. Wordsworth one could speak. I have included a single figure on the path for scale, he is not immortal although he has been known to speak.
