Ogof-Carreg-Yr-Ogof-050415-17

Main Chamber Ogof Carreg Yr Ogof lies on the most remote peak of the Black Mountain and due to its short length is rarely visited. The entrance is located beside a disused limekiln, the waste from which has leached into the groundwater and contributed to the growth of formations found in the cave. These unique stalagmites with reddish brown tops are very reminiscent of creme caramels. Beyond this chamber a tight crawl leads through to a deep lake with crystal clear water which ends in a static 10m long sump.

Ogof Y Garimpeiros This 200m long very remote cave is somewhat of an acquired taste. Loose boulders are found along its entire length and in much of it the roof and walls are jammed and cemented rocks. It is a test of nerves as you pass through the numerous boulder chokes.
