Sgilloge Loughs (Σxplore)
Pretty cold at above 600m, came down into the valley to visit the loughs at around 500m, too warm here, when well layered for the heights, until a gust of wind makes you think twice about taking off your kit.

Crotty's Lough
An infamous corrie lake in the Comeragh mountains, ( Lough Coumgaurha ). It was the lair of a highwayman called Crotty. Crotty was caught and executed for his crimes, but he never gave up the location of his loot. In 2014 Crotty's stash was found hidden on a cliff face that overlooks the lake. Waiting for Light
Everytime I plan to shoot the Boola lakes and also Crotty's lake, I seem to find myself completely immersed in cloud and fog ( flic.kr/p/2e688rB" rel="noreferrer nofollow flic.kr/p/2e688rB ), on the way home I always pass the Sgilloges, which is always when the weather shifts and light hits the mountains again. So I seem to always end up shooting the Sgilloges, perhaps, the next day I'm out I'll leave a few hours later.

Light rushes over the cliff face of the coum like a gully of light instead of water.

The Nire Valley
Beautiful Sgilloge Loughs in the Comeragh mountains. Before the lockdown here, a new boardwalk was being installed that allowed visitors to walk easily to the lakes, the lower lake in the background is where the boardwalk arrives. I haven't visited here since January, so I will be delighted to visit, hopefully soon, and hopefully the boardwalk will be complete.

Turn and Face the Strange
Just had to post this to show the difference 30 minutes can have in the mountains, literally fishing for light and magic moments. Lost the blue in the lake from this angle, and picked up a flare.

White Out on Carraignagower
Climbing Carraignagower, I planned to shoot the Boola loughs and Crotty's lake, but the weather had different plans that day, so I settled here for a rest and waited some time for the weather to shift.

Until We Meet Again
The final hurdle of many a hike in the Comeragh mountains, ends with the walk down the col above the Sgilloge lakes, looking beyond to the view into the Nire valley.
