Bay with floating pontoon at Loch Morar at the shallow western end, Lochaber, Inverness-shire, Scotland.
Commentary. The shallows of Loch Morar near Bracara on the north-west shore. A myriad of delectable wooded islands offshore make for a splendid “Swallows and Amazons” scene. Colourful boats and the orange lake-bed glinted by the sun’s rays give a pond-like feel to this ten mile loch. Hard to believe that only three or four miles to the east it plunges to over a thousand foot in depth. Food for the imagination, hidden monsters may well invade our nightmares. But this scene is cosy, warm and monster-free.

- Data: Database of British and Irish Hills v18.2
- Maps: We use OS mapping for England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Sadly, Channel Islands, Northern (OSNI) and Southern Ireland (OSI) mapping isn't available online, so we use Openstreetmap.
