Heading up the steep-sided Gleann Choinneachain towards the pass through the hills over Bealach na Sgairne. This is fabulous view is part of the usual route up to either/both Beinn Fhada (up to the right) and A' Ghlas-bheinn (left).

On the trail in Strath Croe, Shiel Bridge, Scotland
Two weeks hiking in Scotland. Hikes 9 and 10 were from our base at Shiel Bridge. The weather turned to more typical West Highlands cloud and rain, but we still managed a couple of hikes to the Corbett Sgurr Gaorsaic and to The Falls of Glomach.

Ash tree, Kintail Forest DSC_9644-1
This ash tree seems to be clinging onto this rock for its life at this spot. The Kintail forest lost its trees long ago when the Highlands were logged and then stocked with deer for hunting, a process which is now being reversed. Another hazy day from my trip up north, so the de-haze filter has been applied and I've had to do a bit of dodging and burning around the leaves where the filter didn't seem to work.
