S7700 - Greatmoor Hill
NT489006, LR79. HISTORY Pillar completed 22nd September 1953 costing £54.6s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NT72/13 within the Jedburgh secondary block during 1957, and levelled to second class precision in 1958. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in July 1977. SITE VISIT The pillar is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. The flush bracket faces NNE, compass measurement 23°. Vented through the right (NW) sight hole. The views include Skelfhill Pen, Penchrise Pen, Minto Hill, Rubers Law. It always rains up here.
