Stagecoach - 48201 YJ74CZG - Switch Solo M8570SR
It's not often I upload photos out of sequence, as I'm a bit OCD about that, but here goes and this will be the last for a while as I have now taken a photo of all seven of these new deliveries for Barrow. This Stagecoach (North West) Switch Solo is seen here on its first day in service. Registered in 12/2024, it is the seventh of seven for the Barrow-in-Furness depot to replace some of the Solo M850 'PX54' reg. stalwarts which have amassed twenty years service bar one day. Those initial eighteen, 47130-47, were later joined by another two from Preston, 47148/9, the latter of which is still in service. This brand new one arrived at Barrow earlier this week. It is seen here on Central Drive, Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, when operating Service 1 12:05 Biggar Bank, Walney Island - Barrow Town Centre - Furness general Hospital, on 13/12/2024. © Peter Steel 2024.

Stagecoach - 48195 YJ74CZA - Switch Solo M8570SR
It's not often I upload photos out of sequence, as I'm a bit OCD about that, but here goes. This Stagecoach (North West) Switch Solo is seen here on its third day in service and was the only one tracking of the first four in its own right. This is the first of seven for the Barrow-in-Furness depot to replace some of the Solo M850 'PX54' reg. stalwarts which have amassed twenty years service bar one day. Those initial eighteen, 47130-47, were later joined by another two from Preston, 47148/9, the latter of which is still in service. This brand new one arrived at Barrow earlier last week and was registered in late 11/2024. It is seen here on A590 Jubilee Bridge, Walney Island, when operating Service 1 14:30 Furness General Hospital - Barrow Town Centre - Biggar Bank, Walney Island, on 03/12/2024. © Peter Steel 2024.

Stagecoach - 10555 SN16ONX - ADL E40D - ADL Enviro 400MMC
New to Stagecoach (North West), in 05/2016, this Enviro 400MMC is one of twelve delivered to Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs., originally for 'The Lakes Connection', Service 555 Lancaster - Keswick, nine at Kendal and three for Morecambe, so therefore its fleetnumber was quite apt. These are basically 'Gold Standard' vehicles with leather seats, USB and Free Wi-Fi although the latter aspect is now non-operational. On the receipt of nine new SmartHybrid Enviro 400MMC's at Kendal, seven of these, 10552-8, '16' plate examples have operated out of Barrow-in-Furness since around 04/2023. This one had received its 'local' livery around seven weeks prior to when this photo was taken and it is seen here on Promenade, Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, on 26/06/2024. It is operating Service 5 11:30 North Scale Teasdale Road, Walney Island - Vickerstown Baden Powell Street - Barrow Town Hall. This operates a one way loop from the Dock Museum, via the Town Hall, and Tesco. © Peter Steel 2024.

Stagecoach - 15726 PX61CVF - Scania N230 UD - ADL Enviro 400
New to Stagecoach(North West), in 10/2011, this Scania is one of nine initially allocated to Kendal for the scenic 555 service, Lancaster - Keswick. Now allocated to Barrow-in-Furness, mainly for the 6, X6 group of services, to Ulverston, Windermere and Kendal, it is seen here on Promenade, Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, when operating Service 5 Barrow Town Hall - North Scale, Walney Island, where it is approaching, on 12/03/2024. It received the 'new' Stagecoach 'local' livery in 09/2020. The high tide of Walney Channel can be seen with the water having made it's way onto the road. This is also due to the drains that back-up with high tides. The channel was at a height of 10.31m, a so called Spring Tide. These are so named after a new or full moon, when there is the greatest difference between the high and low tides. Looks like someone's boat had finally given up. © Peter Steel 2024.

Now allocated to Barrow-in-Furness, mainly for the 6, X6 group of services, to Ulverston, Windermere and Kendal, it is seen here making a splash on Promenade, Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness, when operating Service 5 13:00 North Scale, Walney Island - Barrow Town Hall, on 12/03/2024. This flooding was due to overnight rain coupled with a high Spring Tide from Walney Channel, which is to the right out of sight of the camera. At a height of 10.31m, these Spring Tides are so named after a new or full moon, when there is the greatest difference between the high and low tides. It had just started to turn here but with rain and the drains backing up, and depending on wind direction the tide can go onto the road as seen here. © Peter Steel 2024.
