"Is this a dagger that I see before me?" No, but the setting sun catching the remote Ardnish Peninsula looks very like one. Taken from near to Glenuig where Loch Ailort and Loch nan Uamh merge, Inverness-shire, Scotland.
Poem. Slate-grey shoreline rocks. A ruffled bluey-grey sea. The indigo, snow-tipped hills of Arisaig are split, broken, penetrated, by a golden spear of sunlight. The sun found a break in the dark clouds and creates this anvil-forged dagger of burning gold. For a moment it is mesmeric, surreal and then in another moment, it is gone. But the image, keeps that moment alive ……eternally!

From just west of Roshven the winter setting sun catches the hills of Loch Ailort and sets them on fire, Loch Ailort, Scotland.
Commentary. Beneath the steep, rocky slopes of Rois-Bheinn, this view of Ailort was caught in a glowing moment. What seemed like potential storm clouds split just enough to let the setting sun radiate through. Slopes north and south were splashed with fiery yellowy-orange by the evening rays. In contrast with the threatening clouds and the darkening indigo hills this made for a memorable and compelling scene.
