The clifftop at Hannafore Beach, West Looe
When we had our holiday home near Looe, this was one of my favourite places to come and relax, enjoying the sea views from the numerous seats along the grassy clifftop at Hannafore, which is the coastal part of West Looe, in south-east Cornwall. We were only paying a short visit this time, but we managed to cram in lots of return visits to old favourites.

Looe Bay, Cornwall
From the low cliffs at Hannafore, West Looe, there are extensive views across Looe Bay and then Whitsand Bay in the south-east of Cornwall, with Rame Head in the far distance on the right. The beach at Hannafore is mostly covered by a rock shelf, which provides numerous rock pools at low tide.

The coast and beach at East Looe, Cornwall
I first came to Cornwall with my parents in the mid-1950s, and we stayed just outside East Looe. I've been returning regularly ever since then, and for several years had a holiday home there. I remember my first visit, when I played on the rocks at the end of this beach, and managed to catch a shanny in a large rock-pool on a handline, using limpet as bait. I returned the fish to the sea. I came back with my wife recently and we stayed for a couple of weeks in my old holiday home, which I had sold to my daughter. In the few days when we had decent weather we managed to re-visit a lot of our favourite places, and I took numerous photos with my cameraphone, a Samsung Galaxy S23+. I couldn't face lugging my rather heavy Nikon D7000 around with me. I don't think the much lighter cameraphone let me down.
