S6138 - Lousie Wood Law
NS931152, LR78. HISTORY Pillar completed 23rd June 1950 costing £51.12s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NS83/16 within the Lanark secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1950. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in September 1976. SITE VISIT Difficult to tell anything in the horizontal blizzard at arctic temperatures up here today. Impossible to operate camera for more than a few seconds at a time due to chill factor. My already wet hair actually froze on top. The trig pillar seemed to be in good order. Spider centre open. The flush bracket faces nominally NNW but like the temperature, the visibility was also subzero. Followed quadbike tracks from electricity substation by Elvanfoot. Due to the easterly blizzard the pillar (showing FB side) could only be photographed from NNE. Photographed: 10th February 2007, GRP. ═════════════════════════ Map: www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/42986339075/in/album-72157692190778971/ Trig Pillars on OS Landranger 78 ═════════════════════════ Neighbouring Triangulation Pillars www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098001318/in/set-72157631793900484/ S6131 - Green Lowther : 2.81 miles to the southwest. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8097992625/in/set-72157631793900484/ S6134 - Ravengill Dod : 2.84 miles to the north. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8097993287/in/set-72157631793900484/ S6125 - Lady Cairn : 3.09 miles to the northeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098001652/in/album-72157631793900484/ S6128 - Tomont Hill : 3.48 miles to the southeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098001154/in/album-72157631793900484/ S6135 - Hitteril Hill : 4.88 miles to the southeast. www.flickr.com/photos/13460108@N06/8098000980/in/album-72157631793900484/ S6137 - Slough Hill . : 5.41 miles to the west. ═════════════════════════

This walk sees us down near Elvanfoot. We do a route from Glenochar to Dun Law via Kneesend Hill. And then onward to Lousie ...

- Data: Database of British and Irish Hills v18.2
