D26663vs. Worm's Head on The Gower in South Wales is an off shore headland, connected to the mainland by a rocky causeway. But this causeway is only passable at low tide, so care is needed when crossing to make sure that there is sufficient time to return before the tide comes in again. People often get stranded over there - and this includes the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas! On the occasion of my visit the tide came in and Worm's Head causeway rapidly disappeared under the rising waters trapping several people on the other side! The coastguards called out the RNLI inshore lifeboat and this soon came to their rescue. D26641vs. Worm's Head is an off shore headland, connected to the mainland by a rocky causeway. But this causeway is only passable at low tide, so care is needed when crossing to make sure that there is sufficient time to return before the tide comes in again. People often get stranded over there - and this includes the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas! On the occasion of my visit the tide was coming in and Worm's Head causeway was rapidly disappearing under the rising waters. There are numerous warning notices about the danger of being cut off by the rising tide but, despite this, six people still were over there and had to be rescued by the inshore lifeboat! This photo was taken as the tide was coming in, but before the causeway became impassable.
