MANX SHEARWATER // PUFFINUS PUFFINUS (75-85cm)
A RARE DAYLIGHT ENCOUNTER, a Manx Shearwater, is a true sea bird, and only comes back to underground caves to breed in the hours of darkest night, to avoid the gulls. Anyone visiting Skomer, Skokholm, or Bardsey Island, will have seen the skeletal remains of these birds but never get the chance to see one. This one from a previous trip was found near to the old farmhouse on Skomer, so it was fairly safe from the gulls, On the ground they can only slowly Wadel, as their webbed feet are meant for their life at sea.. My only daylight sighting of one in many stays on these Islands. =========================================== THANK YOU for your visit and friendship, please leave a comment, and I will soon be doing the same to your lastest posting. Enjoy your new week, God bless...........Tomx

- Data: Database of British and Irish Hills v18.2
- Maps: We use OS mapping for England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man. Sadly, Channel Islands, Northern (OSNI) and Southern Ireland (OSI) mapping isn't available online, so we use Openstreetmap.
