S8765 - Stob An Eas
NN185073, LR56. HISTORY Original pillar completed 9th June 1956, rebuild details unknown, cost not on record. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NS29/T79 within the Greenock secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1957. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in May 1980. SITE VISIT The pillar is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with larger narrow raised lettering. FB faces WNW compass measurement 243°. All four sighting holes are open. An older pillar is lying beside present one. The same FB & spider were presumably reused. The brass loops and the internal wooden shuttering are still on old pillar.
