Shelf life
156458 approaches the stop at Falls of Cruachan with 1Y24 1211 Oban to Glasgow Queen Street. The steep sided nature of the ravine where the River Awe opens out to join Loch Awe can clearly be seen here, the railway sits on a narrow tree lined shelf some feet above the road. The line here is protected from rock falls by a unique arrangement of wire activated semaphores - three such signals are visible in the shot. At the time of the image the trigger wires were being replaced. April 22nd, 2024
