NR856998, LR55. HISTORY Pillar completed 28th June 1952 costing £36.17s.4½d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NS29/36 within the Greenock secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1952. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1980. SITE VISIT Overall approach from NNW. Parked by B840 at NM851009. Through gate at NM852008, up through trees then onto open hill. The marsh and grass summit is called Beinn Bhan. The pillar is in good condition. The spider unexpectedly retains an older OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. The flush bracket faces WSW, compass measurement 253°. All sight holes open, pillar bolt viewable. 360° panoramic view.
