S6157 - Dubh Airidh
NM958035, LR55. HISTORY Pillar completed 10th September 1950 costing £18.18s.9d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NS29/25 within the Greenock secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1952. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1980. SITE VISIT A new, as yet unmapped, forest drive has been constructed allowing quicker access. This new drive runs from NM935063 to NN016023. Parked at approximately NM971049. Followed break SW to open hill which continues to summit. The stone built pillar is in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. The flush bracket faces northwest, compass reading 332°. All sight holes open, innards filled with debris. Excellent 360° unspoilt panoramic view.
