S3675 - Carra Duagh
NM892102, LR55. HISTORY Pillar completed 7th May 1946 costing £36.0s.0d. Computed as primary station PP385 within Figure 6 of the OSBG36 primary retriangulation network during 1951. Levelled to second class precision in 1952 with the reconnaissance of northerly secondary stations of secondary block NS29 (Greenock). This pillar station was last routinely maintained by the OS in May 1981. This marker was later visited by the OS on 20th August 1991. SITE VISIT Approached from NW by Lagalochan. Followed mapped forest track to its end. Made for mapped stream to east and followed that up to deer fence and out onto open hill for a beeline climb to the summit of rock and grass. Càrn Duchara. A Glaswegian flush bracket in Argyllshire!! Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. BsM flush bracket faces SSE, compass reading 161°. Vented through three sight holes, northmost plugged, innards blocked with debris. Long views in all directions.
