Carving on the tomb of Alasdair MacLeod
St Clement was the patron saint of mariners in the 1st century. Alasdair MacLeod was the 8th chief of the family and he commissioned the church in the early 1500s as the burial place of the MacLeod Clan, including his own tomb. Not surprising therefore that of the many fine carvings and graves, Alisdair’s is the grandest and most ornate. He died in 1547. His effigy is dressed in a knight’s armour. The arch above is decorated with religious symbols, including the Holy Trinity, as well as scenes from his life. This is thought to be St Peter

A Ferry of a different kind...
Spotted this in Rodel Harbour on the Isle of Harris. I think it's a ferry for transporting livestock to the more remote islands. Happy Ferry Friday...
