Part of the spectacular hiking route to A' Mhaighdean and Ruadh Stac Mor from Poolewe. It's a 30 mile round-trip so just about do-able in a day, and the scenery was definitely enough to distract from aching knees.

Meall Mheinnidh
One of the peaks passed en route to A' Mhaighdean from Poolewe. This section of track heads round to the right, drops down to and crosses the river, and then heads over the low point between the hill to the left and the mountain.

Carnmore Lodge
Surely one of the most remote houses in Britain..? Near the shore of Fionn Loch and under imposing cliffs way out in the Fisherfield Forest. A' Mhaighdean is not far out of shot to the right, and the route to this peak (from the Poolewe direction) is visible traversing the hillside.

Remotest pair
A' Mhaighdean (right) and Ruadh Stac Mor (left), perhaps the two most remote munro peaks in the land, deep in the Fisherfield wilderness area in NW Scotland. This was taken on the long trek back to Poolewe, at one of the few points that Carnmore Lodge is visible over the lumps n' bumps in the intervening moorland, on the other side of Fionn Loch.

We were getting close to the end of our first ten hour day. Almost all of the climbing behind us as we traversed this amazing landscape.
