Sgurr Ban's quartzite slabs
An amazing way to ascend a mountain! - up the huge area of quartzite slabs on Sgurr Ban's east side above Loch an Nid in the Fisherfields. The nearest lump on the very right is Meallan an Laoigh, and the peaks beyond that are the Fannichs. This image is compressed but gives an idea of the expanse of the slabs, although this was far from all of it!

Fisherfield pair
Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair (nearest) and Beinn Tarsuinn on the right, two of the Fisherfield munros. I combined these two with Sgurr Ban for a day-outing from Loch a' Bhraoin. I think the hike was approx 13.6 miles as a circuit from Lochivraon bothy, and the cycle along the loch another three in each direction. A long day but nothing too dramatic for what are some of the remotest of munros.

Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair
Nearly at the summit of the highest peak in the Fisherfield area. A sensational viewpoint, as they all were to be fair. The other peak, to the right, is Beinn Tarsuinn. It was probably around this time (now being able to see the entire 'Fisherfield Round' and the distances involved) that I was exceedingly thankful not to be doing the entire lot in one go.

The summit of the Fisherfield’s highest peak - Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair, with Sgurr Ban beyond it, and An Teallach in the distance beyond that. Also looking down Gleann na Muice to Loch na Sealga. Shenavall bothy is down there too, somewhere, although I suspect just behind Sgurr Ban's mountainside from this angle.
