NC752647, LR10. HISTORY Pillar completed 20th June 1952 costing £20.0s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NC85/19 within the Tongue block during 1954. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in April 1957. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1985. SITE VISIT Approached from south. Parked on verge by north side of A836 beside track entrance at NC752624. Followed mapped track beyond comms mast then a beeline route to summit negotiating boggy ground where necessary. Grassy coastal top with shallow heather. The pillar is in good condition. Spider centre plugged with tar. The flush bracket faces southwards, compass measurement 170°. Vented through east sight hole. The 360° panoramic view includes Orkney, Ben Loyal, Ben Hope and Cnoc An Fhreiceadain.
