Kylesku Bridge at dawn looking to the Stack of Glencoul, Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland.
Commentary. This “C”-shaped concrete bridge received design awards on its completion and was opened in 1984. It stands at the junction of 3 sea-lochs, Loch a’ Chàirn Bhàn, Loch Glendhu and Loch Glencoul. Its shape is aesthetically pleasing and it favours views to the Stack of Glencoul and the triple peaked monolith called Quinag. It replaced the Kylesku ferry that required significant waits and queues, whether travelling north or south.
